English school for juniors in the Channel Islands

Help your child’s confidence grow with our specially designed English Easter or Summer Schools (we offer also camps in the French October holidays). We have been hosting these courses for 30 years and have created a rewarding language experience with high-quality teaching in the mornings and a fantastic range of activities in the afternoons and evenings. Living with our friendly host families enables children to practice English in an immersive setting. We also offer private tuition in the mornings for more specified language needs such as preparing for an exam. They can have lessons at the same time as the other students and then join in at breaks and in the afternoon activities. Our experienced qualified tutors will make sure to tailor-made the course to your requirements while your children will still enjoy their stay making new friends along the way.

Typical Itinerary

The morning

EFL Lessons Students learn more effectively and faster when they are enjoying lessons, so we keep everything fun-packed and productive. Teachers create a balance between grammar and key vocabulary learning with more practical English for everyday use to develop four main skills: speaking, reading, writing, and listening. As well as keeping our teaching imaginative and enjoyable, we also make sure it is effective. Students are monitored and encouraged to progress throughout their stay. All students receive a certificate and a progress report at the end of their time with us.

The afternoon

Activities We work with a number of local businesses to offer a fantastic range of activities mainly outdoor based. Our activities rotate every 2 weeks so no one gets bored! Students will get to try new things, see and experience the uniqueness of Guernsey and make lasting friendships. Our day trips also allow students to use their English in real situations, so we prepare them beforehand so that they can make the most out of their day. From cricket to kayaking, multi-sport to surfing, we offer something fun for everyone. Our beautiful island of Herm nearby offers fantastic beaches and spectacular views of Guernsey and Sark. Our leaders accompanying our students are making sure everyone is engaged and participates in the activities while being responsible for their well-being and safety.

The evening

Socialising We believe it is important that the students have time to socialise among themselves and forge long lasting friendship with students of other countries. CIEA provides opportunities every week for the students to all to meet up and have fun in the evening in secure and controlled environments. Different events are organised such as beach barbecues, fish & chips in the park, cinema nights and indoor swimming, depending on the weather. Our evenings finish relatively early with our lovely host families collecting their students wherever they might be on the island. Our families are committed to making the children feel at home and part of the family and work closely with us to ensure our students are comfortable and relaxed at home.

Prices Include:

  • Weekday tuition (3 hours per day from Monday – Friday),
  • Activities and supervision (4 hours per day from Monday – Friday),
  • Host family accommodation (Sunday – Saturday),
  • Transport from and to the harbour/airport, language school & activities,

Junior summer camps with Channel Islands English Academy

On our international summer camps for teenagers, we combine English language learning and cultural, historical and sports-based activities in a beautiful island setting so that 11 – 17 year olds can enjoy the summer improving their skills and developing personally and socially.

The Academy has been welcoming students to Guernsey since 1990. Students stay with our friendly host families, make lasting friendships and great memories all while learning English and experiencing the Guernsey way of life!

Guernsey is a beautiful little island with spectacular scenery, beautiful sandy beaches, dramatic coastal views and plenty to do outdoors – but don’t forget, we also have a rich and unique history to explore! Its relaxed pace of life and its safety make the island the perfect environment for juniors to learn English whilst making unforgettable memories with international friends.

We offer options for those with particular interests. Whether it’s watersportsm, volunteering for work experience (16+), or you want your children to do some extra English classes – we have something for everyone’s needs.
